Health System

Modern sports supplement packaging tubes with bold typography and color-block design
Overview

I led the redesign of a hospital management system used by public hospitals and clinics, supporting workflows from patient registration to complex clinical operations. The project focused on reducing operational errors, improving usability and accessibility, and creating a scalable interface structure for a highly complex and critical healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design system restructuring

  • Design documentation

  • High-fidelity prototyping

  • Interface standardization across modules

  • Accessibility improvements

  • Collaboration with product and development teams

Process

When I joined the project, the system was already going through a restructuring phase, but there was no consolidated design system to support consistent product evolution.

My first contribution was to structure a design system that could bring consistency to the redesign process, reduce visual and interaction inconsistencies, and create a reusable foundation for future improvements.

I also reorganized the design documentation to improve alignment between design, product, and engineering teams. This helped make design decisions clearer, support handoff, and create a more scalable process for maintaining and evolving the system.

Given the complexity of the healthcare context, the work required balancing user needs, clinical business rules, accessibility requirements, and technical feasibility.

Challenges
  • Standardizing interfaces across multiple system modules

  • Reducing visual, structural, and interaction inconsistencies

  • Organizing a large volume of information without overwhelming users

  • Improving accessibility and alignment with WCAG guidelines

  • Designing efficient flows for high-pressure healthcare environments

  • Balancing user needs, medical business rules, and technical constraints

  • Working with limited direct access to end users

Impact
  • Created a reusable component library to support the evolution of the system

  • Defined design tokens and components to improve interface consistency and flexibility

  • Improved the structure and quality of design documentation

  • Reduced cognitive load in critical tasks

  • Helped reduce operational errors related to information-heavy interfaces

  • Established a more scalable design foundation for future modules and product improvements
